Sensors for Counting With Magnets
Hall Effect sensors paired with magnets and an appropriately programmed meter can be used for counting rotational or linear movements.
Single Channel Hall Effect sensors paired with magnets work in non-direction dependent events such as counting rotations or cycles when direction does not change.
Direction sensitive counting can be accomplished with 2 Quadrature or Speed and Direction Sensors.
- Direction is resolved in quadrature sensors by comparing the two out of phase pulsing outputs.
- Count and Direction Sensors have one output that pulse on one channel and then provide a second output that is either high or low that tells the meter whether the count should increase or decrease.
Directional magnetic counting sensors that are detecting magnet wheels or alternating pole magnetic targets may require custom spacing of the sensing elements within the sensor. Contact our Sales Department for more information.
