Magnetic Sensors for position detection
Hall Effect sensors with either digital or analog outputs can be used in a wide variety of applications to monitor position.
- To detect when a rotating target is in a specific position a single magnet mounted to the target and a Hall Switch will pulse each time the magnet passes the sensor.
- For tracking position throughout rotation, HSQ quadrature sensors can be paired with a counter to detect which direction the target is moving and monitor the rotational position as a count
- Analog Hall Sensors and Digital Hall Switches can detect position of linear movement. Analog Hall sensors will provide a signal that increases or decreases as the magnet approaches. Digital Hall sensors switch an output on when the magnet is in range of the sensor.
Raw magnets as well as magnets mounted in threaded housings and shaft collars are available in our Accessory Catalog
More about our sensors, magnet selection, and position monitoring can be found in our Application Notes.
