Speed Sensors for Detecting Rack Gears
To measure linear speed from a rack gear, single channel gear sensors provide a digital output that switches each time a gear tooth passes by the face of the sensor. When connected to a tachometer they measure the speed of the rack gear. Quadrature Sensors as well as Speed and Direction Sensors provide two outputs so that you can resolve both the speed of the gear and the direction of movement.
