Detecting a Rotating Gear to monitor Alignment
When alignment is adjusted by rotating a gear, a Quadrature Gear Tooth Sensor paired with a directional counting meter can monitor the gear, detect when teeth pass the sensor face and in what direction and output a count relative to the current position.
To measure a once per rotation position in a gear our Ferrous Target Tracker sensors can alternatively detect an added steel pin, or a ferrous extension on a tooth of the gear.
To learn more about our quadrature gear tooth sensors, why we request the gear pitch, and target gear design, see our Application Notes.
