Magnetic Proximity Sensors
Multiple types of sensors can be used for non-contact proximity detection.
- Hall Effect Switches provide a digital output that turns on when the magnetic field in front of the sensor reaches the switch point. Some Hall Effect sensors detect just the south pole, others detect the north pole. Dual Hall switches provide one output for each pole, and either pole Hall Switches will detect either a south or north pole with a single output.
- Analog Hall Effect Sensors provide a voltage output that increases or decreases dependent on the size of the magnetif field and the pole. AH and AH5 sensors provide a 2.5V output with no output and one pole increases the output and the other decreases the output. Programmable sensors can be programmed specific to the magnets and changes in proximity for the application.
- Reed Switches are all capable of measuring proximity and function as an open/close relay. They are available normally open or normally closed and do not require a power source.
Sensor Solutions Accessory Catalog offers a wide variety of target magnets compatible with our sensors.
