Detecting Position with Magnets
To detect when an object is in a specific position in either an application with rotational or linear movement, magnets can be attached and targeted with Hall Effect sensors.
For tracking a rotational position, the HSQ quadrature sensors can be paired with a counter to detect which direction the target is moving and the rotational position.
Measuring the position of a linear movement can be accomplished with either Analog or Digital Hall Effect sensors. Analog Hall sensors will provide a signal that increases or decreases as a magnet approaches. Digital Hall switches will detect when the magnet is in range of the sensor.
