Detecting the Position on a Rack Gear
Measuring the position of linear movement on a rack gear can be accomplished with Quadrature Hall Effect Gear Tooth sensors. When connected with a meter programmed for monitoring directional count, each tooth can be scaled to output a position on the gear itself of the position of a table or other item being moved by the rack gear.
Fully programmed counters are available in our Catalog.
For more information about our quadrature gear tooth sensors, why we request the gear pitch, and target gear design, see our Application Notes.
