Monitoring Rack Gear Speed and Direction
Speed and direction of motion of rack gears can be resolved using two different styles of Hall Effect Gear Tooth Sensors.
- Quadrature sensors provide two out of phase outputs. A tachometer can then be programmed tomonitoring the outputs then determine direction of motion based on which output detects the gear tooth first.
- Speed and Direction Sensors output speed on one channel and a second direction output that internally compares the speed channel to a second sensing element in order to resolve the direction of motion.
More information about selecting speed and direction monitoring sensors can be found here.
