Speed and Direction Sensors for Detecting Multi-Pole Magnet Tape
Two Channel Digital Hall Effect latching speed and direction sensors provide two outputs that resolve the speed and direction that multi-pole magnet tape is moving relative to the sensor.
When these sensors are placed in front of a piece of alternating pole magnetic tape, also referred to as a magnetic scale, they produce a square wave output that can be connected to a tachometer to measure speed.
- Quadrature versions of these latching Hall Effect sensors provide a second out of phase output so that you can resolve both speed of the target and the direction of movement.
- Speed and Direction Hall Latch Sensors provide a second output that is high in one direction of movement and low in the opposite direction of movement.
When pairing a Quadrature or Speed and Direction Magnet sensor with a magnet wheel or with other targets where magnet poles are close together, custom internal chip spacing may be required. Contact our Sales Department for more information.
4 pole per inch magnetic tape is available in our Accessory Catalog.
